About Me

Growing up in Colorado was a great experience for me, especially during my high school years. However, I faced some challenges when it came to applying for college. I started the process late and had no one to guide me. Despite being a State Champion basketball player and receiving offers from various colleges, I lacked purposeful direction. Having been a first-generation student, it would have been extremely beneficial to have had an educational consultant help me through the process. Nonetheless, I problem-solved through the athletic recruitment and college process and chose to attend Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Being a collegiate athlete at a prestigious women's college was an achievement I am proud of.

With my 17 years of experience as a school counselor in both urban and suburban communities, I have gained a deep understanding of the importance of building positive and trustworthy relationships with teenagers. My unwavering commitment to making them feel heard, seen, and valued during this crucial stage of their lives has earned me a reputation as a trusted advocate. As the founder of WayForward College Consulting, LLC, I am proud to offer my expertise to families to help alleviate the stress of the college application process and provide them with the necessary support they deserve. My mission is to build bonds between parents and children and foster opportunities for growth for all during this transformational stage of life.

As my family and I travel, we take every opportunity to visit various colleges. It has been an enlightening experience as we have discovered the distinctive features of each campus and identified which ones would be the most suitable for my children and even for my own professional knowledge. I relish exploring these institutions, interacting with new individuals, and inquiring about areas not covered in the typical tour. This has resulted in some thrilling encounters, and I am happy to offer advice on how to do the same.

I regularly attend professional development training, visit colleges, attend conferences, and collaborate with other professional independent educational consultants. My professional commitment is to stay abreast of the ever-changing nature of college planning to be the best adviser possible for you and your child.
