Joanna attended Syracuse University as a Division I athlete in swimming and later transferred to Clark University, where she was a member of both the swim and crew teams, receiving her BA in Psychology. She went on to earn her JD from Northeastern University School of Law. She has a Multiple Subject teaching credential and a Single Subject credential in English. Most recently, she received her Independent Educational Consulting (IEC) certificate from UC Irvine and further college essay training courses through the WOW Writing Workshop. She’s a proud member of IECA (Independent Education Consultants Association), and WACAC (Western Association for College Admission Counseling).
As a Bay Area resident for over 25 years, Joanna’s teaching journey started as a Guest Teacher and After School Director at St. Paul’s Episcopal School, an independent K-8 school in Oakland, CA. She continued teaching at various schools, returning to St. Paul’s in 2017 as the eighth-grade English/Language Arts teacher, and has been “home” ever since.
When not grading papers, she loves to swim, spend time with her two high school kids, and hike with her friends, husband, and beloved dog, Rocky.
