About Me
Marilu Medina graduated from Brown University in 1988 with a degree in Political Science and earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School, going on to a 30+ year legal career, including 25 years at a Fortune 100 company. Despite not having top-of-class grades or perfect test scores, she was admitted to Brown, Princeton, and UPenn — an outcome she attributes to genuine, well-written college essays that showed admissions offices her authentic self.
Marilu has helped many students, including her own adult daughters, get into highly competitive programs through strong essay writing, and spent years as a Brown University alumni interviewer, always submitting thoughtful written assessments to the admissions office. Now retired from corporate life, she founded College Essay Magic to help students craft essays that genuinely reflect who they are — work she extends to graduate school essays, résumés, and other writing needs, including English-Spanish translation.
