About Me
Donna Sakabu came to educational consulting after a career on a different path, drawn in by extensive K-12 involvement — 13 years later, she's built her practice around guiding families through college planning with genuine wisdom and insight. She earned a graduate Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction from UCLA (33 units plus a two-school internship), attended IECA's Summer Training Institute, and holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Finance) from Cal Poly Pomona — number-crunching skills sparked in part by facing the cost of sending her own two sons to college.
Donna has toured more than 185 colleges in person and attended countless webinars and conferences to stay current. A Professional Member of IECA who's served on its committees, she achieved the field's highest credential — Certified Educational Planner — in December 2022, passing a board-certified exam and pledging to strict ethical standards. She and her husband of 36 years relocated from California to Texas in 2020, where they enjoy their empty-nester years exploring their new home state.
