Rebecca believes strong communication skills are key to all aspects of the college application process. Helping students learn to be better communicators and to successfully tell their stories is Rebecca's highest priority.

Rebecca is a professional member of IECA and has presented at numerous IECA conferences. She has a College Counseling Certificate from UCSD, as well as a BA in Communicative Disorders and two teaching credentials (Communicatively Handicapped) from San Diego State University.

Rebecca has been helping students locally and around the globe with the high school planning and the college application process since 2012. Specializations include STEM, Bay Area, profoundly gifted, non-traditional (including homeschooled, transfer, health-challenged, or older), creative, and faith-based students.

About Me


Background, Education & Experience
Communicator:

Rebecca was an actress for Invisible Theater and other companies in high school and early college in Tucson, AZ. She moved to San Diego to pursue Musical Theater Dance at USIU.



She performed professionally as a dancer for 20+ years for The Beach Boys, Microsoft, and others. At Visionary Dance Theatre, she was a choreographer, teacher, and soloist. Her final choreographic piece can be found here:

Educator:

Rebecca's first teaching position was with deaf/blind infants and children. Later positions included deaf and LD students. She homeschooled for 25 years and worked for Regina Caeli, a small private school, helping homeschool families with course choices, special needs students, and college planning. She taught preschool, high school, and adult dance classes, and taught ASL to high schoolers. Her vast teaching experience adds to her knowledge and skills as a communicator and educator.


College Counselor:

Since 2012, Rebecca has helped students plan for, and complete the college application process. She enjoys teaching students about the admissions process and loves helping students find their voices.



High School & Transfer Experience

Rebecca works with students from all educational backgrounds all over the US and the world, with many students concentrated in various regions.

Conference Presenter:

Rebecca has presented for the Davidson Young Scholars ( serving profoundly gifted students) on radical acceleration and twice-exceptional learners. She's presented at California Homeschool Network’s annual conference and at multiple IECA conferences. She co-moderates CA Homeschool College Seekers on Facebook.​


Education:

Rebecca completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at SDSU earning a BA in Communicative Disorders, a Multiple Subjects with a Multicultural Emphasis Teaching Credential, and a Communicatively Handicapped Teaching Credential. She received a Specialized College Counseling Certificate from UCSD in 2018.

Rebecca is a member of multiple professional organizations including the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) as a professional member, the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC), and the California Homeschool Network (CHN).
