Dr. Laura Perretta, PhD
Learning is my passion, and I love sharing that passion with others. I experienced the benefits of an exceptional education as an undergraduate and graduate student, and it profoundly changed my life.
As an undergrad at Dartmouth, I spent a trimester studying archeology and history in Greece and won the botany award for my genetic research. After earning high honors in molecular biology and biochemistry as well as a classics degree, I completed extensive research in computational biology as part of my PhD in biochemistry and structural biology from Cornell University’s Medical College.
I dove deep into fascinating subjects, found inspiring mentors, and developed lifelong friendships. As a teaching assistant for both undergraduate and graduate students,
I discovered how to share my enthusiasm for knowledge with others.
Why I do it
The effects of my education have been far reaching as I now share my love of science and history as a volunteer at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. I am learning Ancient Greek to fulfill a lifelong goal to read the Iliad in its original language. I have completed 18 triathlons, including nine 70.3 distance Ironman races and one full length Ironman in Wisconsin. My education created the foundation for the full and engaging life I now enjoy. A great education is a really special experience, and I have dedicated myself to helping others obtain similar opportunities.
Work with me
I labored over my college and graduate school applications for countless hours. I understand the uncertainty and stress generated by the competitive admissions process, and I work with students to reduce their stress and improve the odds of acceptance. My years of experience as an alumni interviewer for Dartmouth College also bring another perspective to the admissions process. In addition to my first hand experience, I have over ten years’ experience helping hundreds of students successfully navigate the entire admissions process to top colleges in the United States.
