About Me

Jaime Smith has worked in education for over 25 years, teaching English at both the secondary and college levels. She earned her BA in Linguistics from UC Berkeley, and later, she obtained an MA TESOL and an MSEd in eLearning.

In 2009, Jaime founded Online G3, an independent online education program for gifted and twice-exceptional K-12 students pursuing nontraditional education. She successfully led the program through the WASC accreditation process and continues to serve as CEO and English instructor. In a shift to educational advising, Jaime entered the UC San Diego College Counseling certificate program in 2014 and became a Certified Educational Planner through AICEP in 2022.

As a college advisor, Jaime specializes in transfer admissions, application essays, homeschooling, neurodiverse learners, and other non-traditional applicants. A longtime advocate for transfer students, she earned a Post-Master's Certificate in Transfer Leadership and Practice from the University of North Georgia, in collaboration with the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students in 2023. Jaime has also authored a chapter on transfer students for the sixth edition of NACAC's Fundamentals of College Admissions Counseling textbook for counselors in training. She is looking forward to the release of her first book, The Complete Guide to College Transfer.

A California native, Jaime now lives in Oregon with her husband and pet bunny. She has one daughter, a former homeschooler turned transfer student who is now in grad school.
