Emily Bloom has spent more than 13 years guiding students through the college search and application process. After a successful career as a writer — three books and countless magazine articles — she began by helping students craft thoughtful, well-written essays, and as families' questions grew broader, she completed UCLA's College Counseling Certificate Program with Distinction. She's a member in good standing of NACAC, a Professional member of IECA, and a Certified Educational Planner.
As a sole proprietor, Emily offers highly personalized, in-depth support — she's a self-described statistical data hound skilled at interpreting Common Data Sets and retention data, tracking down merit money, and helping students present themselves effectively. Rather than a rigid all-inclusive package, she offers a flexible menu of services, from essay review to full application support, helping students navigate admissions with less stress and — often — a bit more peace between anxious parents and their college-bound teens.
