About Me

Gary Heller's interest in colleges dates back to childhood, watching Knicks and Giants games with his father, who would quiz him on which schools the players attended. After graduating college himself, Gary represented his alma mater at college fairs — where he first saw firsthand how stressful and competitive admissions was becoming, well before today's intensified "college mania" — and set out to deeply understand 21st-century admissions, with a particular focus on fit, cost, and financial aid.

Gary earned his College Access Counseling Certification from Rice University's Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, completed intensive study to become a certified College Guru, and supplemented his training with UCLA's college counseling program. He's a member of the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling and the American College Counseling Association.
