Having worked as a research assistant for several European Commission-funded programs at the University of Liverpool, she developed a lifetime commitment to widening access to Higher Education for all. Michela is devoted to (and slightly obsessed with) her never-ending personal and professional development. In her free time, she turns into an amateur writer, an animal rescuer and the world’s most passionate traveller. She is very excited to help student articulate their life stories and succeed in their academic career, and she is thrilled to join the BeMo team.

About Me

Michela Insenga is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Leicester, in the UK. Her research investigates the different factors and emotions that have an influence in women’s choice to pursue a career and persist in the highly male-dominated engineering industry. Michela has a keen interest in social justice and equality of educational opportunities and she is passionate about challenging societal stereotypes and norms.

After earning her Master’s Degree in Politics and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, she became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a lecturer in Education at Edge Hill University. She has designed, implemented and evaluated several modules in the teacher training program (PGCE), while mentoring students and assessing their final dissertations. She now acts as an academic reviewer for some of the most prominent international associations in the field of educational research, such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
