About Me
For the past twenty years, I've had the privilege of working in education, a journey that's deeply rooted in my passion for helping young minds flourish. It all started in the classroom, where I had the joy of teaching Language Arts and U.S. Government and Politics to high school students. There, I learned the value of connecting with each student, recognizing their unique talents and challenges, and walking alongside them through their academic and personal stories.
In addition to the classroom, my experiences continued to grow and evolve. I took on roles that allowed me to contribute to educational strategies and initiatives at a broader level, affecting change in both public and private sectors. But no matter where my career has taken me, my focus has always remained on how best to support and uplift students.
Staying informed and engaged with the latest in education, I actively hold membership and participate in professional organizations like PNACAC, the Aurora Institute, and as an IECA Associate Member. I also collaborate and give back within my local community through our Renton Chamber of Commerce and partnership with the Family First Community Center. These connections help me stay grounded and bring fresh, impactful strategies to the families I work with, aiming to uplift and make space for student voice and drive through all phases of their growth.
At the heart of it all, my professional path is driven by a commitment to education—a dedication that's echoed in my role as a parent, mirroring BrightSpot Labs' vision of a world where every child's natural curiosity and potential are recognized and nurtured. The joys and challenges of raising my own family have given me invaluable perspectives that I bring to my work.
In addition to my work with BrightSpot Labs, I find immense fulfillment in deepening my connections with family and friends through shared adventures in nature, attending festivals, enjoying live music - especially if it's an outdoors venue, and comedy shows. It's this balance of professional dedication and personal passion that shapes my approach to my craft. I'm here not only with a wealth of experience but as a fellow parent and community member, ready to support your family's goals towards academic success and personal fulfillment.
