About Me
Elizabeth Mardesen holds a BA in History and Secondary Education from Colorado State University and a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from UC Irvine, and is a Student Member of IECA. She traces her path into this work back generations — her grandmother, a 1940 college graduate, went on to become the first female English department head at Lamar University, and sent Elizabeth's mother to earn her own master's degree, a legacy Elizabeth honored by naming her daughter after her mother's alma mater.
Elizabeth's love of the application process started early — she once meticulously printed her responses on clear labels to apply them to her own paper application to Colorado State — and she discovered a knack for building four-year graduation plans for her peers while still in school, the earliest seeds of what would become Southeast College Consulting. After a career teaching high school, working in school administration, and completing a mentor-training internship, a friend's off-hand encouragement ("Get qualified then") sent her to UC Irvine's Independent Educational Consultant program, where she spent two years training before joining IECA. She and her husband spend weekends cheering on the Colorado State Rams and traveling to see them play, along with their two teenagers.
