Hannah is the founder and owner of Creative College Connections. She has worked in college admissions for over three decades, first at her alma mater, Oberlin College, then as a college counselor at a private high school in the Washington, DC, area, where she honed her skills working with students with anxiety and learning disabilities. In 2010, Hannah began her work as an educational consultant with the founding of Creative College Connections.

About Me

From her earliest years, Hannah believed that college would be in her future, but she had no idea how she would get there. Growing up in a family of modest means in the 1970s gritty Lower East Side of New York City, Hannah bounced from school to school as her parents searched for a place where she could thrive. Often feeling out of place and a step behind, she finally enrolled at a local private school on a scholarship. There, she had access to a great college counselor who guided Hannah through the college admission process, changing her path forever.


Little did she know that her job as a tour guide in college would lead to a career helping students discover their own path toward college. Hannah has guided over one thousand students toward best-fit colleges and saved parents many tens of thousands of dollars along the way. Hannah is passionate about the power of education and the lifetime impact of a good college experience. She is a highly sought Independent Educational Consultant, working privately with families and speaking before groups.

Creative College Connections is an educational consulting practice founded in 2010 by Hannah Serota, M.Ed, CEP. What began as small solo consulting practice has grown into a business with an exceptional team of educational consultants who are passionate about helping students identify colleges that fit them best. Our consultants have spent many decades working in college admission offices and counseling high school students. Although our main office is located in Leesburg, VA, we serve students throughout the US and the world.
