Kristi Harlig is the lead consultant and co-owner of Future InSight College Consulting, an independent college counseling practice based in San Diego County. With over 20 years of experience as a teacher, school counselor, and college counselor, she provides personalized, ethical, and holistic college planning support for high school students and their families. Kristi specializes in helping students identify best-fit colleges, reduce application stress, and navigate academic, social, and financial decisions, with extensive experience supporting neurodivergent and first-generation college-bound students.

Kristi Harlig is the lead consultant and co-owner of Future InSight College Consulting, an independent educational consulting practice serving students and families in San Diego County and beyond. With more than 20 years of experience in public education as a teacher, school counselor, and school-based college counselor, Kristi brings deep expertise, compassion, and clarity to the college planning process.
Kristi has worked in both Los Angeles and San Diego counties, including as a college counselor at a highly selective magnet high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District and later as a high school counselor at a leading San Diego County public high school. In these roles, she supported hundreds of students through academic planning, college exploration, and successful college applications to a wide range of public and private universities.
Through Future InSight College Consulting, Kristi provides personalized, ethical, and holistic college counseling with a strong emphasis on academic, social, and financial fit rather than prestige alone. She works closely with students one-on-one while partnering thoughtfully with families to reduce stress, build confidence, and help students take ownership of their college journey. Kristi has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent students, first-generation college-bound students, and families navigating complex or nontraditional pathways.
Kristi holds a master’s degree in psychology, a specialized certificate in college counseling from UC San Diego, and is a WOW Method Certified Essay Coach. She is a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC).
