I am a private college counselor for student-athletes who want to play a sport in college. I guide student-athletes and their families through the college athletic recruiting and application process to find success with programs that are the best fit for both the "student" and the "athlete".

About Me

I understand what it takes to compete academically and athletically for a top-ranked NCAA Division I school. In 1988, I graduated from University High School in Irvine, CA as a salutatorian with 11 varsity letters. I found my perfect college fit at Duke University as a member of the Women's Soccer Team.

After graduating from Duke in 1992 with a B.A. in Sociology and a Certificate in Markets & Management Studies, I worked in marketing and account management in the software and web-design industries for 15 years in the U.S, The Netherlands, and Norway.

As a Duke Alumni Interviewer in South Orange County, my job was to provide the Duke Admissions Office with an additional assessment of each candidate after a personal interview. Most of these students had outstanding grades, test scores, and extracurricular activities. However, I noticed that only a few of them knew WHY Duke was the right college fit for them. I believe that college is not just about the degree, but about the experience and building a successful foundation for a future career. I knew I could make a difference.

I decided to transition my career into college counseling in order to combine my professional skills and experience in marketing, client relationship management and project management with my passion for education and athletics. I received my College Counseling Certificate with distinction from UCLA Extension during which I completed an internship working with student-athletes in the Guidance Department at Mission Viejo High School.

Since 2013 I have been advising students and student-athletes both locally and around the world. In 2016 I joined forces with my mentor, David Stoeckel, to train counselors on how to effectively advise college-bound student-athletes through www.TheStudentAthleteAdvisors.com. David passed away on January 15, 2021 and I will be forever grateful for his partnership and friendship. I will continue to provide training and mentorship to IECs through www.TheStudentAthleteAdvisors.com as well as maintain the Counselor's Manual - Advising the College-Bound Student-Athlete.

In my free time, I enjoy skiing, surfing, yoga, training at Orange Theory, and spending time with my family. My children are both in college. My son is studying Electrical Engineering at SUNY Maritime and is on the sailing team. My daughter is a Biomedical Engineering major at the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a member of the novice rowing team.
