Living in Brazil since 1998, Suzie expanded from World Cup English tutoring into full online consulting through Explorers English.

About Me

Suzie Castello, originally from California, has lived in Brazil since 1998, raising two children with her husband Alex in a fully bilingual home. In 2014, she founded what became Explorers English, initially tutoring English to clothing retailers in Teresópolis ahead of the World Cup, before growing it into a full tutoring service centered on personalized, high-quality instruction.

Following her students' interest, Suzie expanded in 2017 to include English proficiency test prep and educational consulting, helping area students gain admission to pre-college and undergraduate programs in the US and UK. She holds an Independent Educational Consultant Certificate from UC Irvine (2022), UK Certified Counsellor training through the British Council (2024), and has completed NACAC's Character Collaborative and IE University's Global Counselors Academy coursework. An associate member of IECA and member of the International Association of College Admission Counseling, she volunteers as a mentor to war-affected students through the Ukraine Global Scholars Foundation and Syrian Youth Empowerment Initiative, and now runs Explorers as a fully online consulting business serving families across Brazil and beyond.
