About Me

Kathleen (Kate) Woessner Odell is the founder of StepAhead College Advising. Kate really enjoys working with high school students and helping them to succeed in college and beyond. She is an avid follower of the latest college-related news, admissions trends, blogs and college-related social media. Kate is committed to continuing her professional development by attending counselor conferences and personally visiting as many college campuses each year as she can.

Kate received her College Admissions & Career Planning Certificate from UC Berkeley Extension and has over seven years experience as a College Counselor. Kate created and delivered the college prep program at Design Tech High School, a new public charter school. She is experienced in 1:1 and group advising, academic counseling and Parent Education programs. Kathleen has strong relationships with college admissions officers.

Kate received her BA from Williams College and an MBA from Cornell University. Prior to working as a college advisor, Kate had a career in marketing in the medical device industry. While she enjoyed working in the corporate world, Kathleen has found that college advising is her true passion.

She was also a college advisor with College Summit, a non-profit organization that provides college advice to low-income and first generation students.
