About Me

My expertise as a college consultant is a product of years of experience in and around public education. A Los Angeles native, I am a proud alumna of North Hollywood High School. After high school, I continued my studies at the University of California San Diego before transferring to University of California Berkeley, where I graduated with a degree in film studies. As a transfer student, I developed not only a strong understanding of the socio-cultural and academic differences that exist between universities, but first hand experience of all the benefits that come with finding the right school– for parents and students alike.

My passion for helping parents and students in education was formed through my experience as a parent learning to navigate the complex magnet school system of LAUSD. Meticulously studying the different angles of the system, I quickly became a trusted source of information and clarity for many parents; quite frequently, I would receive phone calls from strangers who had been referred to me as a resource that could help cut through the magnet schools’ convoluted points system and help navigate students toward a particular high school. As my eldest daughter began her own college application process, I began once more to study the daunting system my daughter and I were up against- and once more I became the helping hand to countless friends, families, and strangers. By the time my second daughter finished applying to college, I decided to take my passion to the next level, completing a 2-year College Counseling Certificate program through the University of California Riverside.

My immediate area of interest is in working with public school families, owing to the breadth of information and resources I have gathered from being a parent in the public school system. I believe firmly that the rich social and cultural fabric of public education can allow every student to apply, get into, and thrive at the school most aligned with their interests.

In addition to being a private college counselor, I volunteer as a college advisor with the San Francisco-based non-proft, ScholarMatch, which supports first generation, low-income high school seniors as they work through the application, essay and financial aid processes.
