About Me

Dr. Phyl Levine built her career across academic and nonprofit settings focused on education and special education, working with at-risk and disenfranchised children, youth, and young adults across the life span. She founded Education Maven to provide comprehensive, individualized college planning and admissions guidance — including student assessments, best-fit college research, and essay coaching that helps students find their voice, from those with learning challenges to the academically gifted.

Dr. Levine directed the first national collaboration of 15 U.S. Department of Education-funded model demonstration projects, managing a six-year, multi-million-dollar initiative across multiple grantees. She has served as a senior team member on three national longitudinal studies of children and youth with disabilities that helped inform federal laws like IDEA, and has published more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She's worked remotely from her Seattle home office with clients nationwide for 12 years.
