A UC Davis and San Francisco State grad, Lea offers pro bono counseling to first-generation students and volunteers on the Berkeley Public Schools Fund board.

About Me

Lea Baechler-Brabo brings nearly three decades in education to guiding students toward college and career, and supporting parents along the way. A skilled communicator and listener, she's passionate about helping young people explore their interests and find their own path — and as the mother of three sons, she understands firsthand the mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with the college conversation.

Before founding Great Choices College Advising, Lea worked as a student advisor at UC Davis, a program developer for City University in Zurich, Switzerland, and a professional writer and communications consultant for Berkeley's public schools. She holds a B.A. from UC Davis, an M.A. in Education from San Francisco State, and a professional certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley. A member of IECA, HECA, and IACAC, she's building her knowledge of international admissions while staying active in her community — including offering pro bono counseling to first-generation students, a group she belongs to herself, and volunteering on the Board of the Berkeley Public Schools Fund.
