Susan Bishofberger, PhD is the founder of Ascend Educational Solutions, a Tennessee-based independent educational consultancy that guides students and families through the complex college research, application, and selection process. Dr. B offers personalized expertise to help students navigate this pivotal journey.

Driven by a deep passion for education, Susan’s commitment to supporting students stems from her own experience as a former educator and first-generation college student. She understands the crucial role that guidance plays for both students and their families during this often overwhelming time.

Dr. B offers flexible scheduling and dedicated, personalized attention outside of regular school hours. She invests significant time in researching and visiting schools, and collaborating closely with students and families to ensure the best possible fit.

As you work together, Dr. B emphasizes the importance of self-exploration and optimism. She helps students articulate their interests and strengths, while guiding them in prioritizing key aspects of their educational journey. Her approach makes the college admissions process more manageable, acting as a trusted resource for students and their families.

Susan holds a PhD in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a BA in Psychology from UCLA. Her teaching career has taken her to Tennessee, California, and the American School Foundation in Guadalajara, Mexico. She has earned certificates in College Counseling from UCLA Extension and in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley Extension. Dr. B is a proud member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
