I believe in the college admissions process. When approached well, it can be one of the great periods of personal growth in a young adult's life—a catalyst for developing the self-awareness and character that lead to success in college and well beyond.

As a counselor, mentor and coach, I help separate the signal from the noise. Higher education is not only about where students go, but also who they want to be in the world. Earning admissions is a function of both demonstrating their character and learning to tell a good story.

In addition to working with a small cohort of students, I write the Citizen Scholar Newsletter and speak at schools and private events about how to navigate the admissions process with purpose and a sense of calm.

About Me

A passionate educator for over 20 years, Benjamin believes the college admissions process is a unique opportunity for students to build upon their intellectual vitality, emotional intelligence, and character strengths. Since 2009, he has helped over 600 students successfully navigate the highly selective admissions process.

Recognized for challenging traditional approaches to college counseling, Benjamin crafts customized plans for a wide array of students—entrepreneurial, STEM-focused, humanists, artists, and many who are undecided on their major interests. His aim is always to maximize personal growth and college options, while providing a sense of clarity and calm.

After 10 years as Co-Founder and Chief Educational Strategist at Princeton College Consulting, Benjamin now provides a concierge level of service through his boutique consultancy. In addition to counseling a small cohort of clients, he writes The Citizen Scholar Newsletter, leads in-school workshops, and speaks at private events.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, Benjamin earned an MA in English from Northern Illinois University and received training at the Harvard Institute on College Admissions. He is a professional member of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling and Higher Education Consultants Association. In his spare time, Benjamin enjoys continuing his quest to become a scratch golfer and browsing his neighborhood bookstores with a strong cappuccino in hand.
