Since 2016, I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse array of students across the Hudson Valley, the greater New York area, and throughout the United States.
Reflecting back to my senior year of high school, I was filled with excitement and more than a little trepidation yet struggled to find my path (does this sound familiar?). An independent college counselor played a pivotal role in helping me discover my ideal school—a place where I not only learned but truly thrived. That transformative experience ignited my passion for this field, and I’ve once again found my perfect fit. I take immense joy in guiding students and helping them uncover where they can unlock their potential, engage with new ideas, and truly understand themselves.
Though my journey to this point has been non-traditional, each step has shaped my approach. As a professional writer, I developed a keen appreciation for the art of storytelling and the skills necessary for teaching students to craft compelling college essays. My experience in journalism instilled a love for working under deadlines, while my background as a sustainable entrepreneur highlighted the significance of marketing, branding, and effective communication.
I hold a BA with a dual major in Women’s Studies and Journalism from Hampshire College, I attended the Independent Educational Consultants Summer Institute, and I earned a Certificate in College Counseling from UC Irvine. Currently, I am enrolled in the graduate program at Landmark College, focused on “Understanding and Supporting Diverse Learners,” which trains me to counsel students with learning differences. I actively participate in the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and serve on the Learning Differences (LD) committee. Additionally, I’m affiliated with the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA) and the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC).
Since 2020, I have also taken on the role of college counselor for College Connect, a Hudson Valley organization based in Rhinebeck, NY, dedicated to assisting first-generation students in their journey to college.
Residing in the Hudson Valley with my husband, our high-school-aged son, and our four rambunctious dogs, I enjoy hiking, traveling, indulging in BBC mysteries, and preparing elaborate dinners.
Exploring college campuses is a thrill for me, and I enjoy uncovering each school's unique offerings. I aim to explore about 30 colleges a year, and have visited over 160 colleges to date and I'm eagerly anticipating my next discoveries.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I believe education has the remarkable ability to transform lives, and I'm deeply passionate about guiding students through this journey. Every student has a unique story to tell, and my role is to help them articulate it with authenticity. By embracing each student’s unique learning style, strengths, passions, and dreams, I strive to create a supportive environment where they can thrive. I believe that students are never simply defined by transcripts, test scores, or activity lists.
My ultimate goal isn't to secure admission to the best college but to find the right fit. Amidst the whirlwind of applications, I strive to provide a comforting presence, offering clarity and encouragement every step of the way. With high standards, clear expectations, and genuine care, I empower students to take ownership of their future.
In my world, diversity is celebrated, and every student is valued for who they are. What I offer isn't just a service—it's a partnership built on trust and understanding.
