About Me

Cecily Holcombe joined Journey Ahead in 2023, after most recently working as a math and science teacher and mentor at Fusion Academy. As a mother of three teenagers and a teacher, she began informally supporting her own students through the college process — and found the depth of planning involved so compelling that she decided to move into college counseling full-time.

Cecily especially values the relationships she builds with students and families, and — having felt she didn't end up at the right college herself — is deeply motivated to help each student find a genuinely good fit where they'll feel supported and set up to thrive. She holds a B.S. in physics from UCSD, a teaching credential from San Francisco State (where she taught math and science in Bay Area high schools), a background in software engineering, and a College Counseling Certificate from UCSD.
