With thirty years’ experience teaching, writing and inspirational speaking, Dr. Swenson coaches secondary school students applying to universities around the world. The student's own emerging sense of calling and talent is the place to begin admissions. The question is not, "What schools will accept me?" Rather, "What schools, courses, mentors and experiences will help me make progress in my mission?"

About Me

Joanne Swenson, as a professor, minister, mother, and mentor, brings decades of rare experience to the college admissions process. In both academic and spiritual work, her joy has always been "the transforming moment," where deeper purpose and self-understanding emerge.

Dr. Swenson's students have been admitted to schools such as Stanford University, Cornell University, Boston University, University of Oregon, St. Olaf College, Brigham Young University, University of Denver, Villanova University, Tulane University, and more.

Dr. Swenson is a graduate of St. Olaf College (B.A.) and Harvard University (M. Div., Th.M., Th.D.). She is a member of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and is certified in College Admissions Leadership. She is a vetted and trained volunteer with nationally-recognized programs serving under-resourced college applicants.

Dr. Swenson lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband, where they enjoy all things outdoorsy.
