bio

AAC believes adolescence through young adulthood is a critical time in which achievement should be considered in the greater context of the overall health and development of the individual—something The AAC refers to as “healthy achievement”. Our hope is that the young people we work with will flourish into thriving adults. For each adolescent or young adult, the college and career process is a personal one. We strive to support this process by helping them learn why and how to make choices through a range of resources and experiences, such as through the use of gold-standard assessments (e.g. MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, Clifton Strengths Finder), as well as written intake and conversations. The goal is to help each adolescent and young adult we work with to understand their strengths, motivations, interests, preferences, and skills they’d like to develop. Our recommendations are rooted in years of experience supporting young people as well as research-based practices aimed at supporting individual goal achievement in healthy ways.

We have been fortunate to work with hundreds of young people in the college admissions and readiness process as well as those pursuing career changes or early career guidance. It is a privilege to walk through this journey with our students and families.

About Me

At the age of 27, Robyn started her first successful business— a real estate company, which is still active today. She brings her versatile background, including: employee development, small business management, sales, consulting, training, teaching methodologies and public speaking, to her work with students. Developing people to reach their potential is at the core of her work. Although the real estate industry is fascinating, Robyn chose to return to her roots working with young people in 2011. Having earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Indiana University-Bloomington, she decided to combine her understanding of career pathways and education to form College Planning Services (now The Academic Achievement Center), focusing her efforts on developing future youth leaders and assisting them through the college application process.

In the past decade, Robyn has earned a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA and an M.A. in Executive Development for Public Service from Ball State University. To further understand and serve our families, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology with a focus in Gifted Education from Ball State University. In addition to teaching undergraduate courses at Ball State University, Robyn has been published in a range of trade journals and professional journals on topics ranging from transitioning to college with learning differences and/or twice exceptionalism to helping young people develop into creative problem-solvers. She has also spoken at local, regional, and national conferences and led workshops for adolescents, young adults, parents, teachers and academics on those topics and more. Robyn is married to Joel, mom to three young adults, and finds joy in problem solving and advocacy in all areas of her life.
