About Me
Annette Mackaness has lived in San Jose's Almaden Valley for over 20 years, raising three children through the local public school system — an oldest now graduated from Loyola Marymount and a middle child at San Diego State. Guiding her own kids through the admissions process sparked her passion for helping other families do the same.
Annette holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and built an earlier career as a CPA at Ernst & Young, Apple, and Netscape before moving into HR and corporate recruiting for the tech industry — experience in matching people to the right fit that now shapes her college counseling work. She earned her College Admissions Counseling certificate from UCLA with Distinction, belongs to HECA and NACAC, and is deeply active in her community — from her kids' schools and sports teams to the National Charity League, local food pantries, and mission trips to Mexico building homes for families in need.
