Before joining Western, Nafisha was a Lecturer and Assistant course coordinator at Military Institute of Science and Technology (Bangladesh), where she supervised and mentored undergraduate students for 3rd year engineering capstone project, counseled students from all years to personalize courses based on their merits and career goals and held discussion sessions on graduate school application. She completed her BSc from the same institution as a Valedictorian in 2018, where she was also the student body president during her senior year.

Outside of Academia, Nafisha enjoys exploring different parks with her husband and watching movies with her family. She loves cooking and is always trying new recipes!

About Me


Nafisha Haq is a fully-funded Ph.D. candidate at Western University in London, Ontario. She is pursuing her accelerated doctoral degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering and working to develop fluid flow control techniques that can potentially contribute to energy savings associated with their transportation. Currently, as a graduate research assistant, she has prepared and published 6 scientific papers for peer-reviewed journals, where she not only worked independently on her project but also collaborated with several other graduate students. In her role as a graduate teaching assistant, she conducts tutorial lectures, monitors lab experiments, and holds office hours for students to have one-on-one meetings for academic assistance and to discuss student-specific strategies for overall improvement in academics.
