Supporting the wellbeing of global young people has taken on even more importance through the age of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although wellbeing is defined individually, safety and belonging are foundations that schools can provide to help their students, staff and families to flourish.

About Me

The full-time Director of Wellbeing role focused on subjective student wellbeing for our population of ages 2 to 20, including 125 boarding students at UWC Thailand. Our wellbeing team encompasses the social-emotional and university counselors, the Head of Mindfulness, and the Health Center staff. As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, I work with Deputies to coordinate child protection protocols and processes.

Additionally, as a professional certified academic life coach, I help clients crossing cultures, particularly young adults, to arrive and thrive at the next step of their journey. I also co-lead training for university success coaches and other aspiring coaches on how to ethically, authentically and thoughtfully engage with young people so they can each learn to be the best version of themselves. As a consultant to international schools and organizations, I present on the importance of transitions support, particularly in the move from secondary to higher education. Transitions-care in international schools is the core of our commitment at SPAN - Safe Passage Across Networks, and the focus of our events offerings as a volunteer leadership team, where I host the monthly online gatherings called "The Nest."

I have over 30 years' experience working with international high school populations on four continents, including a dozen years in Asia, as an IB and AP humanities teacher, comprehensive school counselor and department head.

Presentations over the years have included: the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education's International College Advising certificate program, the CollegeBoard Summer Institutes at NYU-Shanghai and NYU-Abu Dhabi, the International ACAC Pre-Conference Institute, the CIS-EARCOS Institute in Bangkok, the International ACAC Summer Conference, the International School Counselors Association (ISCA) Collaborative, the SPAN Symposium, and at the Families in Global Transitions Conference.
