A Yale cross-country captain, James serves as a former State Representative and Devon Rotary scholarship committee co-chair.

About Me

James Maroney, owner and Director of Educational Consulting at First Choice College Placement, graduated from Jonathan Law High School in Milford in 1992 and Yale University in 1996, where he was a three-time varsity letter winner in track and cross-country and was elected team captain his senior year, earning Yale's Men's Cross-Country Award for Performance and Dedication.

James founded First Choice College Placement in 1999 to help students turn their college dreams into reality. He's deeply active in his community — a past president of the Devon Rotary co-chairing its scholarship committee, a founding member and past president of the Milford Education Foundation, a former Milford Board of Education Majority Leader, and a former State Representative who served on the Higher Education Committee and was later asked to help develop Connecticut's strategic plan for higher education. His practice also prioritizes community service, offering educational seminars and free practice SAT/ACT tests locally.
