About
As a college consultant, I advise and assist college-bound students and their parents in finding a college that will be the perfect fit for the student and where they will thrive and grow while attaining an excellent education. Each student I work with is unique, and I strive to help them show their special qualities in their applications, essays, interviews, and other supplemental college admissions components. I provide my students with the necessary advice and guidance with the entire college admissions process: from beginning to end and all parts in between. I offer personalized one-on-one attention for each of my students, allowing the college application process to be less daunting and stress-free.

Before branching off to become an independent educational consultant/college consultant, I had nearly 13 years of experience in the management and programming at one of South Florida's most well-respected non-profit scholarship programs and educational foundations. During that time, I also saw a need beyond what the foundation could offer and I had the opportunity on my own to help and mentor numerous high school students who needed additional guidance and assistance with the college application process (some I counseled on a pro bono basis.) This passion for helping students soon turned into a part-time project for several years for both paying and pro bono clients before going out on my own. In 2019, when the education and scholarship foundation ceased operations due to lack of funding, I decided to shift gears. I made college admissions consulting my full-time commitment, and RK College Admissions Assistance was officially born and launched. To date, not counting my current clients, I have had the honor and opportunity to assist a significant number of students on the college planning journey.

Before being an educational consultant and managing an education foundation/scholarship program, I spent 15 years in the communications, public relations, marketing, and special events planning arena.

About Me

Before becoming an independent educational consultant, Rebecca had over 12 years of experience managing the programming for one of South Florida’s most well-respected non-profit scholarship programs and educational foundations. Along with ensuring that thousands of college-bound students in South Florida received additional funding for college, she was also instrumental in developing college readiness programs and initiatives for underrepresented and first-generation high school students in the South Florida area in conjunction with other community-based organizations in Miami-Dade and Broward County. At the same time, she saw a growing need for personalized guidance with the college admissions and application process. Concurrently, she worked with numerous high school students one-on-one part-time while running the scholarship program and education foundation.

In 2019, when the education and scholarship foundation ceased operations due to a lack of corporate funding, Rebecca needed to pivot quickly. She knew she had the client base and years of experience and knowledge and officially made college admissions consulting her full-time commitment. Thus, RK College Admissions Consulting was formally born and launched. Since the inception of RK College Admissions Consulting, Rebecca has had the honor and opportunity to personally consult and assist nearly 150 students with their college planning journey.

She is proud to note that all of her students have yielded positive results in some way. Her students either got accepted into their #1 choice or into a school that was the BEST FIT for them (most offering additional merit scholarships.) Though she cannot guarantee that your student will get accepted into every school on their college list, she will strive to do her best to ensure they have the BEST CHANCE possible for success. Her main goal is for her students to find the best school to fit their academic, financial, social, and emotional needs.

Rebecca also worked in the public relations and communications industry for 13 years after graduating with a creative writing and communications degree from Florida State University in 1994. She excelled at portraying her clients in the best way possible and spreading their positive message to the public. She does the same for her students by helping them develop and demonstrate their distinct narratives in their applications and essays.

Rebecca is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) – the highest membership level for educational consultants who have demonstrated professional mastery with many years of experience. IECA is an international professional association representing experienced independent educational consultants. It provides professional development and works to ensure that those in the profession adhere to the highest ethical and business standards. She maintains the highest standards of professional service and personal conduct as outlined by IECA’s Principals of Good Practice. She is also a current member in good standing of the Southern Association for College Admissions Counseling (SACAC).

She takes pride in her continuing education and professional development through these two associations and independently by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops. She also personally visits college campuses nationwide to provide her students with the most up-to-date information about the schools they may be interested in applying to or schools they have yet to consider.
